RED-Y for Fashion!

Red, the color of the moment and the ultimate Valentine’s Day pallet.  Major fashion houses showcased the shade all over the runways for fall and winter, and it’s a flattering color on almost everyone!  This Valentine’s Day spice up your wardrobe with designer red pieces.  Here are a few style tips to get you and your loved one READY!

For the Ladies

If you’re thinking about dressing up your red dress, there’s no need to go overboard. The intensity of a red dress is jaw-dropping and show stopping on its own.  When it comes to accessories, gold always compliments an intense red dress.  Stick to simple gold tone accessories like simple earing posts, classic gold hoops and dainty necklaces, bracelets and watches.  If you find a simple red dress that can complement a statement worthy gold accessory, be sure to stick to one finish and do not mix metals.  The gold and red are elegant pairings together.

Although a simple single sole pump is a classic look and nicely paired with a red hot dress, for a more daring and bold appearance, consider brown-hued animal print to add zest to the look.  A brown-hued animal print like leopard, cheetah, or tiger can serve as a fashionable neutral. Another classic neutral in-between black and a print is a gold strappy shoe to complement your gold accessories.  Complete your red hot dress with a simple clutch in gold, or tan, not to detract too much from the dress.  No need to match your shoes. Go for the opposite.  If you’re shoes are black, consider an animal print or gold clutch and vice versa.

For the Men

Typically, when it comes to adding red to your wardrobe it’s seen in small doses, in the tie, handkerchief and for some in the vest of a suit.  For a more fashion forward look consider a red blazer! Because the red blazer is so bold, it must be tailored and in a slimmer cut to look neat and not distract from the forward color. Pair the red blazer with dark slim fit trousers and classic white dress shirt.  Just like the ladies a brown-hued animal print is a fashion-forward neutral.  Try a slim fit tie or pocket square in the print.  Keep the bottom portion of your look stream-lined by wearing a pair of black dress shoes to polish the look.  Another trend in menswear this season is a turtleneck under a suit jacket.  Try a peek of red in a turtleneck under a slim fit black suit for something diverse.
